| Levels just how you like it |
It's been a bit of a manic year but certainly feels like I've levelled up - hehe (people want 8 LUFS, digital clarity with 100 tracks each louder than the next, analogue feel on a track entirely constructed digitally - no problem, I love a challenge). I just really feel like I'm over social media.
The way I see it, if you're a producer / musician / artist / creative and you sit down and put something together and you FINISH what you started - that should be the measure of your success. Because that's what you have control of. There's way too much emphasis on popularity (as if popularity has ever been the measure of quality???) and far too much pressure on creatives to market / publicize / constantly be churning it out - production-line consumerist burnout bullshit no thanks.
With The Mekano Set we used to churn it out w releases and events but everyone involved really felt that we should be going against the rising tide of product / sales / bigger venues etc. We were really watching the UK circling the drain over the past 13 fkn years. If only they had the decency to give us Squatting Rights back at least. But I won't get on a political rant, there's noises to be made.
Gonna try and flesh this site out a bit with the visuals, text and sounds we've been working on behind the scenes. Busy working on mixes / remixes but have also taken some time out to have a look at some new ideas of our own.
No real plans to do anything live or new releases either. Never say never, just enjoying hiding away for winter. Certainly feels like I've rediscovered my direction and love of groove / drone. We also have an albums worth of material for our Ambient-Grindcore project with Aisha but the timing just hasn't been right and I certainly don't want to put anything out there unless we can support it with some gigs / communications. It's massively disappointing but sometimes things have to stew in their own reverb and then rediscovered like buried bones.
